Anglais in Antibes

Voici quelques conseils que je donne souvent en cours d’Anglais.

1) TH (début de mot)

Beaucoup d’élèves le prononcent Z.

Il est beaucoup mieux de le prononcer D.

D ne sera pas l’accent anglais parfait, mais s’en rapprochera bien plus que Z.

D’ailleurs TH est prononcé D par certains anglophones comme les irlandais ou les indiens.

Examples:

That dog, This chair, The table, The orange.

Écoutez comment ça sonne d’abord avec un D puis avec le Th anglais, vous n’entendrez pas beaucoup de différence:

Alors qu’avec Z ça sonne très Français.

2) Aren’t, Weren’t, You’re, We’re, They’re

Le R est silencieux.

Très simple, dites Aaaaant, Weuuuuunt, Yoooooooo, Wééééééé, Thèèèèèèèè.

Ne prononcez pas le R.

Examples (listen and repeat):

You aren’t happy. They weren’t at home. You’re the best. We’re tired. They’re great.

3) CLOUD/FOUND/HOW

Le son important pour ces mots est A.

• Cloud se prononce clAoud.
• Found se prononce fAound.
• How se prononce hAou.

Listen and repeat:

• Cloud, Proud, Loud

• Found, Sound, Round, Pound

• How, Now, Brown, Cow, Allow

Il y a des exceptions, mais habituez vous déjà à ces sons qui sont très communs en anglais.

4) Bus, Result, Production, Fun.

En français on a l’habitude d’un U très fermé. Il est beaucoup plus ouvert en Anglais, proche du A. Pensez à Fun Radio.

1) I know this dog. It’s the neighbor’s dog. I don’t know that dog. There are many dogs in the park. The Elephant seems a bit too much.

2) You aren’t happy. You’re tired. We’re going home now. We weren’t at home yesterday. They’re calling a taxi.

3) The mountains are beautiful. Cows, are grazing, there are no clouds in the sky. We are allowed to breathe and feel proud. And listen to the sound of round bells, ringing out loud. Not a worry to be found. Let’s lie on the ground.

4) We’ve had excellent results this year. Our production has gone up 80 percent! We have invented a new product: chocolate guns. It’s been a lot of fun. We can now take the taxi instead of the bus.
